SpiralEdge™ Fin Tubes

Integral finned tube solutions with increased surface area for higher heat transfer

Tube Tech® is India's largest manufacturer of integral finned tubes, with the widest range of sizes, materials and fin densities. We manufacture integral fin tubes with superior dimensional control in Copper, Brass, Cupro Nickel & Stainless Steel tube materials for a wide variety of heat transfer applications.

SpiralEdge™ Fin Tubes are formed by a rolling process which raises fins in a continuous spiral on a straight length of tubing. This produces a fin tube with a greatly increased surface area of known dimensions which is completely integral. Tube Tech® produces finned tubes from precision-made smooth tubes with superior dimensional control, in a wide variety of material combinations.

During the finning operation the inside diameter of the base tube is reduced and simultaneously helical fins are rolled out of the tube wall. A key advantage of this finning procedure is that the finning operation can be interrupted at any point of the tube, allowing plain ends and intermediate landings as required. These unfinned sections make it possible to support and fit finned tubes in shell-and-tube heat exchangers in the same way as plain tubes.

SpiralEdge™ Fin Tubes also include internally enhanced options (internal ridges/grooves) to significantly improve in-tube heat transfer, as well as specialised condenser and chiller tube geometries for demanding refrigeration and process applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What fin densities can you make?

+

SpiralEdge™ Fin Tubes are available from 11 to 56 fins per inch (FPI), depending on tube type, material and size. Other fin densities can be made on request.

What sizes and lengths are available?

+

Integral fin tubes are made from 9.52 mm to 42 mm OD, in lengths up to 12 m. Corrugated tubes run from 7.90 mm to 38.10 mm OD, and inner grooved tubes go up to 25.4 mm OD.

Which materials are available?

+

Copper, brass, cupronickel and stainless steel. Annealed tubes can be supplied on request for selected materials.

Can fin tubes have plain ends and unfinned sections?

+

Yes. SpiralEdge™ Fin Tubes are normally supplied with plain ends. Intermediate landings (unfinned sections) can be added so the tubes fit tube sheets and baffles just like plain tubes.

What is the difference between outer fin and inner grooved tubes?

+

Outer fin tubes have integral fins rolled on the outside to increase surface area on the shell side. Inner grooved tubes have a plain outside and internal ridges that give 2 to 3 times the inside heat transfer of a smooth tube, which makes them ideal for DX evaporators.

Which standards do you follow?

+

Copper integral fin tubes are made to ASTM B75 and B359. Copper alloy and stainless steel fin tubes are made to ASTM B111 and SB 359. BS EN, JIS and DIN standards are available on request.
